An Offer

Let us be charitable in bed,
and in this country of love blind,
coax from the dead our limbs
entwined, remembering
we once bled,
leave words unsaid
and touch instead,
a gentler state of mind.
Make from our sheets a table spread,
offer each other wine and bread,
a feast of dreams still undefined.
